Welcome to the new incarnation of Harvester’s Heroes!
This article is a guide to the new site. Please read on for answers some of your questions regarding the new Harvester's Heroes and its layout. Much has changed from the old site, so this article is intended as a quick reference for the new site’s features.
Forums
We have several new forums available and are always willing to add a forum for those who want to run one. The new site features most of the forums from the older site, but a caveat does apply: because of the differences in database type, we were unable to simply import all of the old posts. In cases where there were many posts in a single forum, we have compacted them into “topic digests” or “thread digests”, with the post and reply authors bolded for clarity.
Downloads
We have a much more accessible Downloads area. Items are listed by category now, instead of user/contributor. In most cases, each download has a file size description along with other relevant information. If you have something you would like to offer for download, you may try adding it for yourself and you may also suggest new download categories.
Note: If you are accessing the site by 56k dial-up and a download you have submitted gives an error, please contact one of the site admins to help you out. Due to a server timing script by our web host (that we have no control over) dial-up uploads “time out” and give an error on files around 200 kb in size and up.
Web Links
The web links section is a new addition. There are a number of categories to choose from and updating them will be an ongoing effort. Feel free to add your own links and to suggest new link categories. All links are subject to approval by the site administrators.
Fan Fiction
You can submit your fan fiction to it’s own area now, instead of to a forum. Each submitted work will appear as a news item on the main page of the site and will also be added to the Fan Fiction archive. Submissions are done through the “Submit Stories” link in the main menu.
Online Chat
We have our own, multi-room chat area. This is an excellent place for online, real-time games and supports in-game dice rolls via an IRC-style "/roll" command. Rooms may also be made private to avoid dsitractions during your game session. If you wish to host a chat game, let us know so we can set you up with a room and moderator privileges for it.
Image Library
We have an online image library, which will allow you to post picture files for others to review. You can create your own albums and add whatever content you like (so long as it is in line with the theme of the site.)
PM’s and Avatars
Avatars - You still have the avatars from the old site to choose from.
PM’s – Private messages are also available, just as with the old site.
